When parents are unable to make tough decisions or reach agreements involving the children on their own, parenting consultants can help:
- Review and resolve disputes outside of court
- Facilitate discussions in a neutral environment
- Find compromise and make agreements
If decisions cannot be reached, parenting consultants have the authority to make binding decisions. Rachel will hear from both parties about the issues, speak with other parties when necessary, review all court orders and agreements, facilitate discussions in an effort to allow parents to reach agreements, and write clear decisions in a timely manner when parents are unable or unwilling to make the decisions together. In order for parents to work with a parenting consultant, an agreement must be signed by both parents and the parenting consultant as part of the original court order.
